Worship and Music
Worship at Highland Baptist Church draws its purpose statement what Jesus described as the greatest commandment. In Matt. 22:36 He is asked the question, “…which is the greatest commandment in the LAW?” In verse 37 His response is a quote Deut. 6:5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” It is the privilege and the challenge of our Worship and Music Ministry to lead our church in worship that allows us to worship God with spirit, (our heart), with our intellect, (our mind), to the best of our ability and might, (our soul). To accomplish this we utilize the gifts and talents of our church family to lead our congregation in worship.
Voices of Praise is our Sunday morning worship choir and is open to everyone in our congregation high school age and up. The only requirement for being a part of the Voices of Praise is a willing heart and a commitment to rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. From our Voices of Praise we audition soloist and ensemble members to assist us in worship as soloist and Worship Team members.
P150 is our Worship Band. This group of musicians fulfill their call of worship leadership by playing their praise. P150 is an auditioned group that is opened to all our worshippers high school age and above.
Coming in the Spring of 2010 will be a Senior Adult Choir, Student Ministry Choir and Kingdom Kids, our children’s music ministry.
At Highland there is a place for you to fulfill your call to ministry in music. Please call the church office if you are interested in becoming a part of the Worship and Music Ministry of Highland Baptist Church and ask to speak to Red Thornton.
