HBC Students 2024 Youth Conference
HBC Students is hosting a community-wide youth conference on April 27th from 3-11 pm. Our theme is “Made New.” Our goal is to challenge students to live a gospel-centered life that reflects the reality that Christ has made them into a new creation. This is a free event. The only reason people would need money is for the Popsicle Food Truck (Frios) that will be available during the afternoon game time, and if they would like to buy merch from the worship band or speakers. Transportation will be provided for the bonfire at the end of the night.
LEE MYERS – Speaker
A former Louisiana Baptist student minister who moved out of state in 2019 has returned as the youth strategist for Louisiana Baptists.
Lee Myers, who began his new role Oct. 1, most recently was the student minister at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
“Louisiana has always felt like my Jerusalem,” Myers told the Baptist Message. “
A native of Jayess, Mississippi, Myers has served 34 years collectively with local churches. Myers holds degrees from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Mississippi College, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Tammi, have four children, Jeff, Bryce, Beth and Max.
MATTHEW HALL – Guest Speaker
He is hard to miss. His personality is huge and only surpassed by his love for Jesus being lifted among college students. Matthew is currently the BCM Director for the University of Pine Bluff.
A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Matthew attended ULL for three years, majoring in music education and organizational communication. His junior year he transferred to News Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree and is now earning his master’s degree in theological studies. He hopes to complete a second master’s in marriage and family counseling.
Hall and his wife, Rebekah, have a Belgian Shepherd named Ahsoka.
ZEAL HOUSE – Worship
We are ZEAL HOUSE MUSIC, a group of humans based out of Central Florida who have collided with the the story of Jesus’ grace & His kindness. We love collaborating together to celebrate and boast about what He did, what He’s doing, and what He said He’s gonna do. We believe worship is a response, a reaction, a heart posture, a discipline, an opportunity to bring something to the Creator and bless His heart. Any opportunity to get in a space with others who have fresh stories of what God is doing and make some joyful noises to Him is something we absolutely love to be a part of. Zeal house music loves writing songs, hosting monthly gatherings, and serving the church.
We are students from different schools and backgrounds. We are athletes and band members, studious and not-so-studious, shy and outgoing, overlooked and popular, and everything in between. We are different, but we are family. We love, laugh, and think it’s awesome just to be together.
We believe this ministry is being used by God to bring people to know Him as Savior and to deepen relationships with Him through real worship, practical Bible study, and purposeful events. We believe that teenagers have the ability to change their home, city, state, country, and world as they are an active part of the adventure of following Jesus Christ.
